wiring aint hard, it’s a loop. complete the loop, things work. I forgot this ground when swapping in the dash harness. It was a right pain in the arse to get to, but I knew where it would be, and that a missing ground was the only thing that could have caused my problems.
bolted in place, and just like that my power windows, power locks , and power mirrors are all working!
100% I was to blame, but I also fixed it. So all is well.

it’s all part of the hobby, learning as I go
it’d sure be nice to have someone else to blame though!

Well Hume would say that present you is a different person than past you. I can say that from my own experience, past me is a lazy know-nothing sack of shit.

Electrical work has a high level of frustration and satisfaction, a lot of time spent on "what the hell is it?" and usually a fairly easy fix once figured out, and boom, everything works again.

if it helps make you feel better, we have a mechanic at work (probably for not much longer) left a brake calip er bolt loose on a car, well you can guess the rest.
he’s currently on forced leave till the boss gets back from holidays

Probably because present me says “that’s future me’s problem” a lot

Yeah, future me is a total chump. You can pile anything on that guy and he just takes it.
